Frequently asked questions — CDCP
How do I register for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
Register at canada.ca/dental-care or call Service Canada at 1-888-698-2294. You will need your SIN and your most recent tax return. Registration is free and takes a few minutes.
Are my children covered by the CDCP?
Yes. All members of an eligible family can benefit from the program, including children. Care for those under 18 is included in the family coverage, provided eligibility criteria are met.
Does the CDCP cover dental implants?
Implants may be partially covered depending on your clinical situation and your CDCP coverage level. A prior consultation is needed to assess coverage. At your appointment, we verify what applies to your specific case.
Do I pay upfront and get reimbursed?
No. We use direct billing — you only pay the uncovered portion (if any) at the time of the visit. We submit the claim directly to Service Canada on your behalf.
Does the CDCP renew automatically?
No. You must renew your eligibility each year after filing your tax return. Service Canada sends a notification when renewal is available. Make sure to update your profile to avoid losing your coverage.
Can I use the CDCP if I have partial insurance?
No. The CDCP is reserved for people with no private or group dental insurance — even partial coverage disqualifies you. If you have any insurance coverage, you are not eligible for the federal program.
What if my dentist is not registered with the CDCP?
Centre Dentaire du Plateau is a registered CDCP provider. If your current dentist is not enrolled, you can visit us using your CDCP benefits. Call us to book an appointment or to verify your eligibility.
Think you qualify?
Book an appointment — our team checks your CDCP coverage on the spot and submits the claim on your behalf. No extra steps on your end.
